Why do my companions die skyrim

My companions never die I have a Master Necromancer companion who can kill most things in one or two hits and if he dies which I haven't seen happen yet besides by my hands , I can just reanimate him again permanently.

I usually kill him myself so I can stuff thousands of pounds in his dead body if I go on long and multiple quest. Plus, you can level to in less than 30 mins starting at level 1. Just use soul trap on a dead body over and over. But you can still do it in less than 30 mins without all that stuff. Best thing besides your companion will never "truely" die and can carry unlimited weight is they can be anyone.

As long as you can kill them you can make them your zombie companion. Warning: Few make zombie noises alot which can become annoying, but thats only a handfull of humaniods. Also, never use lightning on them if you have the disintegration perk. You will turn them to ash and of course not be able to use them anymore. As far as I've seen, you are the only one able to disintegrate things, so watch your friendly fire.

Lydia kept getting in my way so I would go around to the opposite side so we could attack one enemy from two angles. I took a huge swing that sailed right past the enemy and struck Lydia down in one blow. I travel alone now. Yeah, I'm guessing this is all about Lydia. I had her die on me on the very first quest I did with her. Other characters just take a knee and will be down for a couple minutes.

But I've never seen any of the other characters die. Companions are usually pretty descent in general. Even my summons don't act as foolish as Lydia does. I was travelling with my house carl for the entirety of my game. A few nights ago, I was in some random cave, and I just figured she got stuck somewhere and would reappear next time I went into a new area.

It is apparently possible to recruit companions who will fight by your side, carry out simple tasks, and so forth. I have managed to acquire one in the very first village, but have thus far not had him travel with me because I don't know how sturdy he'll be in combat.

Do companions die permanently, like most NPCs? Die but can be picked up again from their original location later? But it's not guaranteed: looking around online, I've found numerous accounts of Lydia or Faendal dying easily, but others who swear nothing they do kills them.

UESP describes the follower death mechanics as such :. When your follower would die to an enemy attack or a trap, they will be incapacitated for some time and begin to recover their health, just like essential NPCs; enemies will stop attacking or targeting them during this time. However, if they lose all their health again during this period, they will die for good.

Thus, you should try to move the fight away from them, so that they are not hit by a stray arrow or area-effect spell. They can also die if hit with a damage-over-time poison that is stronger than their health recovery.

They can also die from enemy power-attacks. From the Elder Scrolls Wiki , followers who can be killed can die from:. That said, there are certain circumstances where followers are immune to death. She cannot be killed while the Totems of Hircine quest is active because of her quest significance.

However, once the quest has been completed, she can be killed. They don't generally rush ahead, they attack if you attack or you are attacked. They won't do anything if you're not in combat. They will even sneak when you sneak. You can also command them to "wait" if you want to go it alone on a certain part.

They have a "second chance" of sorts - when they are about to die they fall to the ground and recover, just like important NPCs. The mobs will switch their attention to you. If the mobs go back to the follower after that, he will die tho. Some have speculated that it could take a similar approach to Morrowind , allowing players to injure or even kill any NPC regardless of their importance to the story for the sake of storytelling and immersion.

The game could also allow all followers to be incapable of dying, and could potentially make their story importance and relationship to the player character more of a prominent part, as seen in other RPGs like Fallout 4. Regardless of which option Bethesda takes, the next game in the franchise will undoubtedly borrow at least some inspiration from Skyrim 's followers, both essential and non-essential. Her prior experience is primarily that of a narrative designer for video games, although her writing has covered all formats from screenplays and novels to stage scripts.

A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, when she isn't writing she works on digital media projects and other types of fiction writing. Ky currently works out of Ohio and enjoys spending her free time either playing RPGs or running with her dog.

However, once the quest has been completed, she can be killed. Followers can die, you can even kill them yourselves. They will even sneak when you sneak. Word games. Do companions die permanently in Skyrim?
